The GeoGraphic Utility System uses the flexibility of Bentley's MicroStation GeoGraphics® Geoengineering environment to create a fully integrated AM/FM/GIS solution. GUS provides applications that input, validate, manage, trace, analyze and graphically visualize utility data in an open Geographic Information System (GIS) environment.

This feature-rich solution can be used by electric, gas, water, wastewater, storm drain, cable and telecommunications utilities. The system allows the operator to add and maintain utility data on a computerized map with an associated relational database creating a full-featured facilities management and map maintenance system.  

GUS Supports: Digitizing/creation of utility facilities, providing an operator interface that ensures appropriate network connectivity and facility association during map creation. Entry/creation of related database records as part of the digitizing interface by using a MicroStation dialog box database form that supports creation, maintenance, validation and query of facility attributes and user creation and maintenace of a utility life cycle state process. Also, association of multiple drawings to the utility facilities creating a utility- oriented and database supported map librarian. Plus, user creation and maintenance of a feature component system controlled by a utility rulebase. And best of all, it allows user creation of an inspection and maintenance record system for each facility.

  
GUS provides a generic and open utility toolkit for MicroStation GeoGraphics. A comprehensive utility implementation can be created, modified and enhanced by completing a series of utility control tables located in a relational database:

These control tables define:
- Look, content and validations of the db forms
- Specific utility rules and placement scenarios
- Connectivity and Feature Associations. 

COMPUTIL can provide a comprehensive series of utility templates for the gas, water, wastewater industry. Modification of the templates can be easily accomplished by the user right 'out of the box' (and with very little training) thus limiting the customers dependence on the 'Vendor' for changes to the system.
